The Ergotron Combo Lift Stand is another entry in Ergotron’s line of Neo-Flex products. It’s designed to mount a single display and laptop into an assembly that can be tiled, paned, swiveled and lifted to your liking.
The Combo lift stand starts with a weighted base that provides an anchor for the LCD and laptop as well as a silicon pad and two small wheels to enable the swiveling of the entire assembly. The “lift” in the Combo Lift stand comes from a center column that uses a spring-loaded pulley system to ease the height adjustment. A bolt at the top of the column allows for easy adjustment of tension in the column in order to compensate for different LCD and notebook weights. Assembly of the Ergotron Combo Lift Stand is quite simple. Ergotron includes all the parts that you need to complete the assembly as well as a hex tool. You will need a Philips screwdriver to tighten the odd Philips screw, but for the most part the Combo Lift Stand is a kit-in-a box. All of the parts fit the first time and assembly took a total of about 7 minutes. Once completed the Combo Lift Stand was sturdy, solid and stable. The combo stand is rated to accommodate LCDs up to 20″, but we’ve mounted everything from a 15″ to a 22″ screen with no trouble. The stand can be adjusted to carry between 12 to 28 pounds and has a 5″ lift. A center steel bar supports the notebook tray and the LCD bracket, allowing them to slide back and forth for adjustment. The notebook tray is slightly angled to give a toe-in camber and sports a small knob to adjust for the depth of the laptop. This allows users to move their laptops forward or back in the tray to line up the notebook LCD with the external screen. The LCD bracket is also slightly angled so that the notebook screen and external LCD will “surround” the user. The bracket is fully adjustable and the LCD screen can be raised, lowered or pivoted simply by loosening the knob. |

Mounting an LCD is easy. Simply use the universal mounting bracket and pivot with the four included thumb screws to hook it up to the LCD screen of your choice. You then use the mounting bolt to connect it to the LCD bracket, adjusting it for height and rotation. You can also adjust the tension in the tilt mechanism by rotating a small screw at the top of the LCD mount.
We tried a variety of notebook/laptop combinations and each one was easy to setup and adjust to our liking. You can play with screen height, laptop angle, stand lift and panning to your hearts content. The screen can tilt 20 degrees, as well as pan rotate 360 degrees. That’s the big draw of the Ergotron Combo Lift Stand, that it puts your devices where you want them. The Ergotron Neo-Flex Combo Lift Stand is available online now for between $140 and $180 dollars. |
