Heading back to DC. Thanks to Mel for a 6:00am airport run & Dad for dropping me off at 5:00am. Family FTW!
I believe that I am good at what I do, but what I really desire is to be good at doing what I believe.
I just realized that I really want to see “The Most Interesting Man in the World” vs. “Old Spice Guy” — Make it so!
Hmmm time for some ‘Surfporting’ – Giving up my flight to SJC for $400, dinner and a night at a Strip hotel.
So I was poking around the Apple Store at the Fashion Mall in Las Vegas when I started noticing that many of the iPads, MacBooks and desktops were streaming Glenn Beck videos. At first I thought it was a strange new Apple policy, then I saw this guy in the D-Shirt going from computer to computer, bringing up videos just as fast as sane people could shut them down.
Oh tea party… how far have you fallen?

I’ve never been a fan of Laura Schlessenger, probably because the first time I heard her was during one of her particularity offensive fundamentalist rants, but even I will say that she did the right thing. — On “Larry King Live” she admitted, not once but twice that she had made a mistake. She acknowledged that at minimum she had not been professional in trying to help the caller and at worst she gave into her frustration of criticisms over the years. This isn’t to say that this is the last we’ll see of Laura. She’ll be on the Internet, in print and probably back on the radio/tv in some form, but it’s nice for once to see a media ideologue admin when they’ve gone too far. |
Here’s the call that kicked off the latest firestorm.

A Shock-Jock’s job is to toy with emotions and bring out passions. The most talented of this breed can have a crowd ready to riot over the potential cutting of Social Security Benefits just a few minutes after riling up the same crowd over excessive government spending for socialist programs. (Of which SS is the largest.) These people have made an art out of manipulation and their comments are DESIGNED to push the limits, but the question is, “when has it gone too far?”

From Wired: Turner was convicted in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday of threatening to assault or murder a federal official or judge, and faces a maximum 10-year prison term under the law, with a likely 10 to 16 months under federal sentencing guidelines. His sentencing date has not been set. “Let me be the first to say this plainly: These judges deserve to be killed. Their blood will replenish the tree of liberty. A small price to pay to assure freedom for millions,” the 47-year-old blogger wrote. He blogged at turnerradionetwork.blogspot.com that the three judges of the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit of Appeals should be “killed” for upholding a Chicago handgun ban last year. |
From the Post: Lynne Rosenthal, a college English professor from Manhattan, said three cops forcibly ejected her from an Upper West Side Starbucks yesterday morning after she got into a dispute with a counterperson — make that barista — for refusing to place her order by the coffee chain’s rules.

Rosenthal, who is in her early 60s, asked for a toasted multigrain bagel — and became enraged when the barista at the franchise, on Columbus Avenue at 86th Street, followed up by inquiring, “Do you want butter or cheese?” I’ll admit that there are times when I turn into a Grammar Nazi on the Internet. There simply isn’t getting around the fact that too many of us (and I include myself in this group) don’t know, have forgotten, or don’t care about the rules of proper English. I commend those who find appropriate ways to promote grammatical awareness and a respect for our common tounge. — To at least DESIRE the ability to use your primary language in such a way that it speaks well of your intelligence is to be applauded… |

iPod Touch owners and iPhone wannaHaves rejoice! A Chinese uberGeek has constructed an add-on for an iPod Touch that gives the device iPhone-like functionality. Called the “Apple Peel 520″, the little gadget looks like a rubberized case that snaps around the iPod and delivers voice/data connectivity through an integrated GSM chipset: Essentially it’s a WiFi docking station that turns an iPod into a passable version of the iPhone. While users will have to ‘jailbreak’ their device to use the custom software to enable phone/text functions on an Apple Peel 520 connected iPod Touch, the sub $300 520/iPod combo is definitely more appealing than a $720 iPhone. |
|
This is a bit geeky, I’ll admit, but are there any iPod touch owners out there who hasn’t looked at their iPods, then over to an iPhone, then back again before asking themselves, “why is one so much more expensive than the other?” |
